Tim Waters

Tim Waters has been an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist in Physical Therapy since 2005. Additionally, he has been certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment by the internationally recognized McKenzie Institute since 2001.

After graduating from the University of Cape Town in 1993, Tim worked in Texas before moving to Hawaii in 2001. Until becoming a partner in Hands-On Physical Therapy in 2006, he worked as a contractor for the US Navy and Marine Corps, gaining valuable experience working in the field of orthopaedics and sports-injuries.

He has extensive experience in post-surgical rehabilitation, particularly knee and shoulder conditions. Working with military members provided the opportunity to not only treat post-surgical injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscectomies, sub-acromial decompressions, SLAP repairs, but also less commonly seen conditions such as posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction, patella tendon repair and distal patella re-alignment surgeries.

In 2005 his high quality of service to the US Navy was officially recognized when he was named “Senior Civilian contractor of the Year”. Tim's principles of providing top quality patient care led him to becoming a partner in Hands-On Physical Therapy, where this level of patient attention and quality service is a core value.

Tim's interest in physical therapy was first sparked after suffering a serious knee injury in rugby, resulting in much rehabilitation. This has facilitated an ability to empathize with sportspersons suffering similar injuries and having to undergo physical therapy.

Tim enjoys time with his family, especially traveling, camping, hiking and surfing.
